Laura Tanzini

Dr. Laura has dedicated her career to helping people live healthier lives.  Her journey began in 1993 with extensive training in trauma recovery.  Her education includes a BS in Biology from the University of California at Riverside, an MA in psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute, and her Doctorate in Public Health with a specialty in Lifestyle Medicine from Loma Linda University.  Dr. Tanzini did her doctoral dissertation on trauma (both adult and childhood sexual abuse) and life satisfaction. She has designed an intensive program of trauma recovery that she has been providing to individuals since 2006.  Her approach to recovery is revolutionary in the field of psychotherapy.

Dr. Tanzini has an extensive background in both biology and psychology and uses that knowledge to form a healing process wherein physical, emotional, and cognition are used to utilize a more comprehensive approach to treatment.  She has worked in both medical hospitals and in mental health institutions.  She founded Inward Journeys Counseling Center in 2006 where she focuses on women’s issues, including molestation and child abuse recovery.  She also leads a women’s trauma group and intensive trauma and personal growth workshops, as well as one-on-one therapy for individuals, couples and families.

Dr. Tanzini has also worked at inpatient eating disorder clinics, leading trauma recovery for individual patients and groups.  She has worked with military personnel and their families to address and resolve issues related to PTSD.

Dr. Tanzini has written many scholarly papers and spoken on topics ranging from nutrition, stress, menopause, obesity, depression, anxiety, and human development

Dr. Tanzini is Board Certified as a Professional Counselor, Integrative Medicine Clinician and a PTSD Clinician and is a member of:

Support Staff

Our support staff play a key role in the physical and mental well-being of clients. Team members are responsible for an array of program support aspects and direct care of clients throughout their treatment.

Transition and Reintegration Team

Our reintegration team keeps clients focused on a successful path once they return home. We firmly believe that follow-up, accountability and aftercare are all pivotal pieces to the recovery process. Our program is designed to guide and lift-up clients once they leave our mental health facility, exemplified through our support coaches who partner with clients on their recovery.
