You may know something needs to change, even if it is difficult to explain exactly what is happening.
When these struggles begin affecting multiple areas of your life, outpatient care may no longer provide the structure or support you need.
Women’s residential mental health treatment provides time away from everyday pressures so you can focus fully on treatment in a structured, supportive environment.
Kinder in the Keys provides residential mental health treatment for women whose symptoms are interfering with daily life, relationships, work, or their ability to function. Treatment is individualized based on each woman’s clinical needs.
Conditions we commonly treat include:
• Trauma and PTSD
• Depression
• Anxiety disorders
• Mood disorders
• Emotional dysregulation
• Effects of narcissistic and emotional abuse
Women experiencing eating disorder symptoms may also be considered for admission when medically stable and when a higher level of medical eating disorder care is not required.
Treatment at Kinder in the Keys is individualized to each woman’s clinical needs. Our clinicians draw from evidence-based and experiential approaches to address symptoms, underlying patterns, emotional regulation, and the experiences contributing to current difficulties.
Treatment approaches may include:
• Trauma-focused therapy
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
• Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
• EMDR, when clinically indicated
• Psychodynamic therapy
• Person-centered therapy
• Psychoeducation
• Experiential approaches, including music, art, sand therapy, and guided activities
Treatment approaches are selected based on each woman’s individualized treatment plan.
Our residential program is designed exclusively for women. The small, private setting allows women to focus on treatment without the distractions of a large or mixed-gender treatment environment.
Care is tailored to each woman’s clinical needs, with individual therapy, daily therapeutic groups, psychiatric support when indicated, and evidence-based approaches to mental health treatment.
Treatment at Kinder includes opportunities to experience the natural environment of the Florida Keys through outdoor and recreational activities. Our setting offers women space away from the pressures of everyday life while they focus on treatment.
With only 12 residential beds, Kinder provides a level of personal attention that can be difficult to achieve in a large treatment center. Our clinicians know the women in our program and are available beyond scheduled sessions when additional support is needed.
